A comparison of the attenuation of the cables 50 and 75 Ohm for frequencies of 2-2. 8 Hz

In this video, we took the measurements of attenuation for cables of a few selected manufacturers. The measurements were performed using spectrum Analyzer with tracking generator Rohde & Schwarz FSH6 (100 kHz — 6 GHz). According to the results of the measurements of the smallest attenuation showed cable made in China.

To test was used different cables with a length of 20 metres, as follows:
1) Strong Sat 703,
2) Strong RG6U 96%,
3) Cavel Sat 703,
4) SDFB Radiolab,
5) Multipin SDFB.

Attenuation at 2000 MHz and 2800МГц in DB. The results of the measurements are:

Cable markAttenuation at 2000 MHzThe attenuation on 2800МГц
Strong Sat 703 4,9 DB 5,1 DB
Strong RG6U 96% 5,8 DB 6.3 DB
Cavel Sat 703 5,3 DB 5,8 DB
Radiolab SDFB 5.4 DB 6,7 DB
Multipin SDFB 5,7 DB 6,9 DB

As you can see from the results of the experiment, the smallest attenuation of the cable No. 1 Strong 703 Sat. The parameters of the cable are: the core of 1.13 mm copper shield aluminium foil + braid of aluminium wires 64 bronzed — 0.12 mm, 4.8 mm dielectric – physical foam polyethylene, PVC 6.8 mm high grade, frost with a red stripe, characteristic impedance of 75 Ohms.
Since the test showed that the cable with wave resistance of 75 Ohm attenuation is less than in the Radiolab SDFB, we can safely say that the cable with wave resistance of 75 Ohm is no worse than cable with a characteristic impedance of 50 Ohms.
